Kala Shankle: Appointed Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) announced the appointment of Kala Shankle as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs in September 2023. Shankle will direct regulatory activities and priorities on behalf of HDA’s 35 health care distributor members. She will report to the HDA Executive Vice President of Government Affairs, Patrick Kelly.
Previously, Shankle worked as an attorney for Epstein Becker Green, where she counseled pharmaceutical supply chain stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters, including supply chain security, drug pricing, Drug Supply Chain Security Act implementation, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Stacey Babson Kaplan: Named Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability and Compliance Officer
Terex Corporation (NYSE: TEX) announced that alumna Stacey Babson Kaplan has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability and Compliance Officer. With this expansion of duties, she adds sustainability to her long-standing role of heading Ethics & Compliance for the company. She serves on the Terex Executive Leadership Team and the Environmental, Social, and Governance Executive Steering Committee, reporting to John L. Garrison, Jr., Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer.
Brett Fischer: Promoted to Senior Vice President, Business Development at RWJBarnabas Health
After just over two years with the company, Brett Fischer was promoted by RWJBarnabas Health to Senior Vice President, Business Development.
Before his current role, Fischer was a health care and life sciences associate with Epstein Becker Green, where his practice focused on health care transactional, regulatory, and corporate law matters.
In July 2023, alumna Shirley Ann Higuchi, JD, Chair of the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation (HMWF), and Associate Chief of Professional Practice for Justice, Legal & State Advocacy with the American Psychological Association (APA), hosted the Chief Judge of the DC Superior Court, Anita Josey-Herring; the President of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia, Rawle Andrews Jr.; and a delegation of additional judges and lawyers at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center. Over two days, the distinguished group toured the site of the former Japanese American incarceration camp that imprisoned a total of just over 14,000 people without due process during World War II. In 2024, Higuchi will host the HMWF’s grand opening of the Mineta-Simpson Institute during the annual pilgrimage to the Japanese American incarceration site in Cody, Wyoming.
