SPOTLIGHT ON
Pipeline Programs
Educating young people about the legal profession is vital to encouraging them to pursue legal careers, as is giving them the resources and tools to succeed in law school and their next steps from there.
Our Commitment to the Next Generation of Lawyers
Education and employment are key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Epstein Becker Green supports various pipeline programs ranging from office-level partnerships with high school students to internships with law students.
In 2014, Epstein Becker Green launched a 1L Diversity Pipeline Program. This program aims to identify a pipeline of first-year law students with diverse backgrounds who will contribute to the firm’s core practice areas while gaining valuable professional and real-life experience with Epstein Becker Green lawyers and the firm’s clients through project assignments developed specifically for this program. Law students who participate in this Diversity Pipeline Program can earn placement as a 2L in the firm’s Summer Associate Program. In addition, 1L Diversity Pipeline Program participants who receive and accept an offer to return to the firm as a 2L summer associate will receive a bonus of $10,000.
Every year, Epstein Becker Green hosts a Future Lawyers Program, in which college students come together to learn about preparing for a career in law and get tips on choosing a law school. Through the Future Lawyers Program, we have partnered with various organizations, including Don Bosco Cristo Rey, New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project, the Institute for Responsible Citizenship, and Gold Star Teen Adventures.
In addition, we are a sponsor of Street Law’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Program, a program where law firms partner with high schools and teach lessons and lead activities designed to increase students’ knowledge and interest in the law and in legal careers. Similarly, our work with Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School also gives students exposure to law firms. Don Bosco is a private high school that serves low-income students in the Washington, DC, area, and for more than six years, Epstein Becker Green has participated in the school’s Corporate Work Study program, which enables students to gain professional work experience in the legal profession and other fields and to earn money to pay for a significant portion of their education.
